Joshua White, PA-C

Founder

Joshua White was born and raised in Savannah, Tennessee - “The Catfish Capital of the World”.

He entered the medical field at 19 years old working as a pharmacy technician throughout college while waiting tables on the side. He eventually graduated from Freed-Hardeman University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.

Following graduation, Joshua moved to Memphis to work at Baptist-East Memorial Hospital before entering the Physician Assistant program at Christian Brothers University. After completing PA school, he began his life-long dream of working in Primary Care.

It didn’t take long to find out why there was an ever increasing shortage of primary care providers. Insurance reimbursement rates remain low while healthcare costs continue to rise, forcing primary care clinics to overload schedules with brief, ineffective appointments.

According to research, 80% of health conditions seen in primary care can be effectively managed by implementing healthier lifestyle practices.

As a certified Lifestyle Medicine Practitioner who enjoys experimenting with recipes, resistance training and spending time outdoors, he wanted the opportunity to truly support patients through sustainable lifestyle changes.

So in March 2025, Handbook Health was opened in Cookeville, Tennessee with the ultimate goal of providing patients with the quality of healthcare that we all deserve.

Joshua and his wife, Morgan, reside in the Upper Cumberland with their dog Otis (the office manager). They truly believe in the mission of Handbook Health and can’t wait to help you become the author of your own health story.
